Isa Wood
B' e Seonaidh Camshron (no An Camaranach mar a bha ac' air) a cheannaich am bàt'-iasgaich seo ann an 1926. Choisich e fhèin agus am mac a b' òige, Dòmhnall a' Chamaranaich, do Shìldeag far an do ghabh iad seilbh oirre Diluain 6mh Dùbhlachd 1926. Cheannaich iad an Isa Wood bho Lalla Camshron.
Chaidh iad ann an eathar an toiseach aig leth-uair an dèidh sia sa mhadainn, bhon Àird Dhuibh far an robh iad a' fantainn gu Camas Tearach; an uair sin, dh'fhalbh iad a' coiseachd thairis air a' mhonadh a' gabhail deoch uisge aig Fuaran a' Bhealaich, a' stad airson greiseag is beagan uisge òl bho fhuaran.
Sheòl iad air ais dhan Chomraich an àth-là, Dimàirt 7mh Dùbhlachd.
Diciadain, chaidh iad suas chun na coille faisg air an tuathanas, is thagadh iad pìos fiodha a chaidh a ghearradh airson 'duine iarainn' a dhèanamh (seòrsa de inneal a bha cumanta air bàtaichean-iasgaich aig an àm, a chaidh a chleachdadh airson lìontain a tharraing). Chaidh seo a chur ri chèile aig a' cheàrdaich is chuireadh e air bòrd an Isa Wood Diardaoin 9mh Dùbhlachd.
Ag iasgach oirre bha Dòmhnall Camshron (Dòmhnall a' Chamaranaich) agus a bhràthair Ali; Dànaidh MacRath (Dànaidh a' Bhachaill), Ali Dhòmhnaill MacGillIosa. Bha am bàt'-iasgaich seo ag obair fad is farsaing air feadh uisgeachan taobh siar na h-Alba gu 1947. Comharradh-clàraidh: BRD 107. B' ann dubh is a bha an Isa Wood an coimeas ris na bàtaichean eile a bha sa sgìre anns na bliadhnaichean eadar an Dà Chogadh, a bha uile air an còmhdachadh ann am bhàirnis. Bhiodh an Isa Wood aig acair sa Pholl Chreadha. Cliog air an dealbh, no air a' phutan gu h-ìosal airson bhideo beag fhaicinn.
Isa Wood
It was John Cameron (or An Camaranach as he was known) who bought this boat in 1926. Along with his youngest son Donald, he walked to Shieldaig on Monday 6th December 1926 to buy the boat from Lalla Cameron.
They had initially left home in Ardubh and taken a small boat over to Camusterrach at 6.30 in the morning; then, they crossed the hill, stopping for a drink at a place called Fuaran a' Bhealaich.
They sailed their new boat home the following day, Tuesday 7th December 1926.
On the Wednesday, 8th December 1926, they went up the farm on the Applecross Estate and chose a piece of wood to make the 'iron man', a mechanical hauler for lifting nets, which was very common at the time. This was built up at the local Smiddy and was fixed to the boat on Thursday 9th December.
Fishing on her were Donald Cameron (Dòmhnall a' Chamaranaich) and his brother Alick; Donald MacRae (Dànaidh a' Bhachaill); Alasdair Gillies (Ali Dhòmhnaill). Isa Wood fished far and wide in the waters off Scotland's west coast until 1947. Her registration mark was BRD 107. She was black-painted, in stark contrast to the other boats in Applecross during the inter-war years, which were all universally varnished. The Isa Wood was at anchor in Poll Creadha.
